David Okrent Named Co-Chair LIAF Legal Advisory Board

Attorney David R. Okrent was named co-chair of the Legal Advisory Board of the Long Island Alzheimer Foundation (LIAF) it was announced recently by LIAF Executive Director Pattie Gallatin. Mr. Okrent, managing attorney of Law Offices of David R. Okrent, Dix Hills, is an expert on elder law and estate planning issues and has been active in the Foundation.

Dix Hills, NY (PRWEB) April 4, 2004 --Attorney David R. Okrent was named co-chair of the Legal Advisory Board of the Long Island Alzheimer Foundation (LIAF) it was announced recently by LIAF Executive Director Pattie Gallatin. Mr. Okrent, managing attorney of Law Offices of David R. Okrent, Dix Hills, is an expert on elder law and estate planning issues and has been active in the Foundation.

His responsibility as a co-chair will be to help guide the LIAF Legal Advisory Board in its mission to maintain ongoing coverage of current legal and financial issues that affect Alzheimer patients, caregivers and all who are aging in our society. Legal Advisories are published in the Foundation newsletter and distributed to the media as appropriate.

I am pleased to help further the work of such an exceptional organization," said Mr. Okrent. LIAF serves an estimated 135,000 individuals with Alzheimers disease and related dementias and their families in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn. In many cases, LIAF is the only resource available for the day care, support groups and educational services that are so vital for those affected."

David Okrent, JD, CPA is immediate past Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Elder Law Committee and is an Advisory Member of the Suffolk Bar Associations Academy of Law, which is its educational arm. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

The recipient of many honors, he most recently was named the 2003 Man of Spirit" by the Long Island Coalition for Aging (LICA) for his commitment to the field of aging and his outstanding dedication to the senior population."

LIAF, headquartered in Port Washington, services include the areas largest resource center, a state-of-the-art adult day services program, support groups for patients and caregivers, and comprehensive Centers for Memory Disorders at area medical facilities.
