Reward for Scoutmasters Who Register for Summer Camp

Scoutmasters who sacrifice a week of their time to take boys to summer camp will receive a gift from the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America to thank them and their families.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Each summer thousands of Boy Scouts spend a week at camp, thanks to Scoutmasters who receive little or no thanks for their sacrifice of money and time -- until now.

The Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America has begun a new program designed to thank Scoutmasters and their families for their time and effort so Scouts can go to camp. The leader of each troop who attends Camp Baden Powell at the East Fork of the Bear Scout Reservation will receive a gift his whole family can use.

It is not easy to take a week off from work, leave your family at home, and spend a week in the woods with a group of boys. I wanted to find a way to give those Scout leaders a pat on the back and thank them with something their whole family would appreciate," said Reid Hall, camp director of Camp Baden Powell, the councils newest summer camp.

The leader of each troop that attends the camp will receive a free Travel Savers Card, which is normally given for a donation of $29.95. It actually has a much greater value because it can benefit the entire family with discounts totaling thousands. The card provides discounts at over 800 local restaurants, entertainment, golf, hotels, travel bargains, and services.

Now a family can feel a little better about sending Dad off to Scout camp because they will get some genuine savings on the things they regularly buy. It can be used all over Utah and the nation and has real value. And the nice thing is, the card can be used over and over again. Its not just for one time, and it is good all year," explained Hall.

The card is only available for Scoutmasters who reserve a week at Camp Baden Powell. The cards are limited by the number of remaining spaces at the camp, and while supplies last.

The deadline to receive a discount on the cost of camp is May 19, and we expect the camp will be full long before that. Scout leaders should call our camp desk right away to reserve their spot before the camp gets full," said Hall.

The Travel Savers Cards have been provided by http://www.MyFreeTravel.com, a company that provides promotional incentives.

The Great Salt Lake Council has found a very innovative way to use our cards to give Scoutmasters a nice gift and reward their dedication. Many companies use our free travel certificates as gifts and incentives, but this is the first time we have had a Scouting group use our discount Travel Savers Card in this way," said Hal Yaffe, of My Free Travel.

The card works in conjunction with a website where users can look up places the card can be used by giving a zip code of the area where they would like a discount. A visit to http://www.TravelSaversCard.com and use of the demo code revealed over 80,000 nation-wide offers and more than 800 places where the card can be used within a 50 mile radius of Salt Lake.

We realize that many charities sell these cards to raise funds. We decided that we would rather give them away as gifts, because we want the families of Scoutmasters to know how much we appreciate their sacrifice," said Paul Moore, the new chief Scout executive of the council.

My Free Travel is a division of HORT Financial Services, founded in 1987, with headquarters in downtown Chicago. My Free Travel has offices in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Omaha, Phoenix, Seattle, Sacramento, and Toronto. My Free Travel maintains call centers in Chicago, Utah and Seattle.

In addition to the card, the company offers travel certificates for free hotel stays, free cruises, free resort stays, and vacations that are often used as rewards and sales incentives.

My Free Travel is committed to providing the highest quality, most cost effective and results oriented travel incentives on the market. We take great pride in not marketing any program that contains a timeshare or sales presentation. All of our incentives are straight-forward programs with absolutely no catches or gimmicks," said Yaffe.

The Travel Savers Card provides local and national discounts at:

•   Hotels - Save up to 50 percent at more than 18,000 hotels
•   Dining - Save at over 22,000 fast food and fine dining locations
•   Golf -- Save up to 50 percent at more than 2,000 golf courses
•   Car Rentals - Save up to 25 percent at all major brands
•   Ski -- Save big on ski passes and equipment rentals
•   Luxury Cruises -- Enjoy great savings on luxury cruises
•   Family recreation, vacation packages and more

You cannot buy one of these cards, but we will be happy to give one to the leader of each troop who registers for a week at Camp Baden Powell," said Hall.
