Former Golin/Harris Executive Launched Baltimore Based PR Firm

An African American woman-owned PR Firm specializing in Diversity Marketing and Crisis Management opens their doors in Baltimore.

Columbia, MD (PRWEB) April 4, 2004 --On February 1, 2004 Monica Wood, a Morgan State University graduate and former Golin/Harris International account group supervisor, opened the doors to her own public relations firm...a dream come true.

MWPR, Inc. is a full-service Public Relations consultancy specializing in diversity marketing, media relations, community outreach, sports marketing, corporate communications and crisis/reputation management. With over 10 years experience in strategic communications, including public and media relations, MWPR, Inc. offers the capabilities and expertise of a large full-service firm with the direct attention only a small boutique can deliver.

Before forming MWPR, Inc., Wood worked for Golin/Harris International as an account group supervisor in their Arlington, VA office. For five years she co-managed the McDonalds account -- one of Golin/Harris largest and longest tenured Corporate Consumer clients. Wood also played a key role in the development of Golin/Harris Diversity Specialty Practice and has extensive experience in reaching the African American market through earned media relations programs.

Prior to joining Golin/Harris in 1999, as a senior account executive, Wood built a career managing marketing programs, communications and special events for major retailers, publishing and advertising companies, including The Rouse Company headquartered in Columbia, MD and The AFRO-American Newspaper Company headquartered in Baltimore, MD. As director of promotions and charities for the AFRO, she developed and executed promotions and marketing campaigns highlighting the AFROs rich history within the African American community to its readers and to the general public.

As promotions director, Wood produced and hosted the AFROs weekly public affairs talk show --AFRO Tuesday Edition" on Morgan State Universitys radio station WEAA 88.9 FM.

A third generation graduate of Morgan State University, Wood holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech. She sits on the Board of the Washington, DC Chapter of Black Public Relations Society and is a member of the National Association of Female Executives and the Public Relations Society of America (Multicultural Communications Section).
