New York Plastic Surgeon Introduces Next Generation Pectoral Implant Procedure
Manhattan, NY (PRWEB) April 5, 2004 --Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS recently introduced the endoscopic pectoral implant procedure to his New York clientele. This procedure, also referred to as male chest enhancement, is a cosmetic procedure for men who are unable to achieve satisfactory pectoral muscles despite regular exercise.
Pectoral enlargement is becoming a popular request in the New York metropolitan area. According to The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) 1,734 pectoral augmentations were performed in 2003 (up from 671 procedures in 2002 -- a 158 % increase). Dr. Senderoff believes that with the introduction of the endoscope, these numbers will be increasing.
Endoscopic assisted pectoral surgery uses the same technology that is used in colonoscopy and laparoscopic surgery. An endoscope is a long thin tube that has a light at the end and is attached to a small camera which displays the images on a television monitor in the operating room. The procedure involves inserting the endoscope through a small incision in the armpit. By being able to see exactly where the instruments are in the body, Dr. Senderoff is able to precisely create the pocket which will accommodate the pectoral implant. Less modern and less technologically savvy surgeons still create the pocket blindly which often leads to uneven or asymmetrical results - with one implant often higher than the other or even shifting out of position. Dr. Senderoff has often been consulted to revise unsatisfactory results from patients who have undergone pectoral augmentation elsewhere.
"The use of the endoscope has made the results of pectoral augmentation surgery much more predictable," remarks Dr. Senderoff, I am able to get remarkable results using the endoscope that were just not possible before." Dr. Senderoff has seen a sharp increase in requests for this procedure with Summer in the city quickly approaching.
