Spoken Word and Poetry enthusiasts now have a new spot on the Internet to congregate and collaborate on all forms of spoken and written lyrical expression. SpokenWordCafe.net is a resource for spoken word artists and fans to stay informed on the latest products and national events, and to hear from some of the best performers and writers in spoken word.

Birthed from a local spoken word and arts community talent showcase held in Carson, CA, the site is founder Sheréa VéJauan’s way of satisfying the hunger for this creative art form that she witnessed firsthand. “After the showcases, we began getting calls from people who were looking for poetry events outside of Carson and who wanted to know how to start a showcase where they lived,” commented Sheréa. “We realized the need for us to expand our outreach and to be a resource for other poetry artists, fans, and venues.”

SpokenWordCafe.net was specifically designed to supply the increasing demand for information and products on spoken word by both artists and fans. Artists will find a variety of products that consists of everything they need to begin their writing journey - including pens, journals, and candles to set the ‘writing mood’. Not to be shortchanged, spoken word and poetry fans will be pleased to see Spoken Word CDs, poetry books, greeting cards, and posters from their favorite writers.

In addition to Spoken Word and Poetry resources, SpokenWordCafe.net will also feature news and products for alternative and often overlooked art forms such as mime, praise dancing, and hearing impaired events. “We want to categorize the uncategorized,” said VéJauan. “There is a space at SpokenWordCafe.net for creative artists who may not fit neatly into the predefined groupings at other sites.”

Another passion of SpokenWordCafe.net is to highlight the growing number of Christians using Spoken Word, poetry, and other creative arts to spread the Gospel. The Gospel Arts Café is a ‘site within a site’ that features Christian creative arts events, products, and inspirational articles.
