Stanton, MI (PRWEB) April 12, 2004 ---Owners of General Motors vehicles are gearing up for what has become one of the most anticipated weekend races of the year. The 9th annual Michigan GM Event will take place on September 25, 2004 from 4:00pm to 11:00pm at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, Michigan. This years event (referred to as M9 by those who loyally attend every year) is a one-day drag racing event known for a great time and is often considered the last fun race of the year before the Michigan winter settles in.
Now in its 9th year of operation, the Michigan GM Event has developed a reputation for a great day of racing because of the cool fall air combined with well-maintained track conditions and lots of enjoyment due to the friendly atmosphere.
"Everyone loves this event because the competition is fun", according to Jason Debler who manages the event with the help of friends and family. "It isn't a 'winner take all' event. Sure, the competition is fierce and there are cash prizes and trophies for the winners, but that's not the only reason why people attend. They attend because it's just a great day of fun racing with friends."
Over 150 General Motors vehicles ranging from the occasional work truck to weekend cruisers to full race cars are expected to attend along with 200-400 spectators and racers. Every driver has a chance to win due to the option of participating in bracket racing or a "Quick 16" race. Even though the event is held in Michigan, many people attend from other states and Canada.
Additional attractions planned for the event include on-site dyno testing, drawings for prizes, a club participation award and more.

About the Michigan GM Event: The event was started in 1996 by a few Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts who met on the Internet. It was originally an event for Camaros and Firebirds only but over the years due to participant demand, it has evolved into a friendly event for all domestic General Motors vehicles. The event is not affiliated with or hosted by General Motors Corporation.
Jason Debler, co-founder of CamaroZ28.Com, has been managing the event since 1998.
