Short Term Solution to Soccer and Baseball Fields Found; Permanent Solution Sought

Representatives from Granada Hills Youth Recreation Center (GHYRC) met today with Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith, who communicated that a tentative agreement had been reached with the Metropolitan Water District to extend the lease at the Joseph Jensen Filtration Plant until the end of 2005, and a probable extension through 2006 is in the works.

Granada Hills, CA (PRWEB) April 11, 2004 ---Representatives from Granada Hills Youth Recreation Center (GHYRC) met today with Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith, who communicated that a tentative agreement had been reached with the Metropolitan Water District to extend the lease at the Joseph Jensen Filtration Plant until the end of 2005, and a probable extension through 2006 is in the works. It is hoped that this short term extension will provide enough time to find a permanent solution for the soccer and baseball programs of the Northern San Fernando Valley.

We look forward to working with them to find a permanent home for the children of Northern San Fernando Valley to play soccer and baseball".
   
Councilman Greig Smith, who represents the area, said, I am gratified to have found a short term solution for the thousands of families that utilize these soccer and baseball facilities. I will do whatever it takes to find a permanent home for youth soccer and baseball in the northwest San Fernando Valley."
