Construction Commences for First Movie in Hollywood" Monument
First movie ever filmed in Hollywood has a belated but welcome recognition
HOLLYWOOD, CA (PRWEB) April 12, 2004 --It has been a long road, but the monument for the first movie in Hollywood In Old California" begins construction at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Biograph (The oldest movie company in America) who made the film back in 1910 has been working for over five years for this to become a reality.
The monument will be constructed of black granite and will be emblazoned with the photos of the pioneers of Biograph who began the movie industry over a century ago.
The company making the monument, Forever, Inc., and its Mr. Tyler Cassidy that Forever, Inc. conveys the message that it has always been very proud to be a part of Hollywood's movie history, and of it's ethnic diversity and richness.
Thomas Bond, II CEO says It is about time this historic film is recognized. Its impact on Hollywood and its multi-cultural theme bridges time". It is significant not just being Hollywoods first film, and the subject matter is about the Latino settlers in California.
It is a drama of Mexico-owned California, and is an insight into the life and times of the history of Mexico and Mexican-Americans in California. Since this was the subject matter chose for the first movie in Hollywood, it shows the importance Latinos played in the beginning of Hollywood and the movie industry.
Long time supporters are Congressman Henry Waxman and Mayor James Hahn. The monument is scheduled to be placed at 1713 Vine Street on May 6th, 2004. Following the monument dedication will be a V. I. P. reception at the Forbidden City entertainment venue on Vine Street, and that evening the screening of the film will kick off the Beverly Hills Film Festival followed by a gala event. This is the first time the film has been seen by the public since 1910.
