MASS MMA Fighter of the Month
As March was an action packed month in the World of Mixed Martial arts, the deciding factors in choosing a fighter of the month included the NAGA World Championship Grappling Competition, Joe Maffeis Hardcore Figthing III, the Pan Am games and a host of other events that Massachusetts mixed martial artists competed in. Luckily for our editorial staff, the March MASS MMA Fighter of the Month was selected by the readers of MASS MMA.
(PRWEB) April 13, 2004 --Those who received the most votes were Dan Simmler for his performance at NAGA in the Light Heavyweight Expert class that was the most difficult division of the tournament (one that included Ted Govola and Mat Santos among others). Dan also received a second place in the Men's Purple Belt Gi -- Light Heavyweight division to cap off an impressive weekend.
Fabio Holanda (who has been training with Bostons BTT) won seven matches, including a submission against Carlos Terihina in the Expert Gi Division.
Many other votes went to Kenny Florian based on his overall contributions to the sport of BJJ and MMA and Nuri Shakir for a great representation of Massachusetts talent at Hook N Shoot against Aaron Riley.
The largest vote getter was the Dragon Lairs Mandela "Delicious" Kponou (pronounced "Poo-new"). Mandela won the Advanced no gi division at NAGA as well as winning by a devastating 14 second knockout against Jason Giroud at Joe Maffeis Hardcore Fighting III. Success in Grappling as well as Vale Tudo brought Kpunou's stock up ten-fold in the minds of Mass Mixed Martial Arts Fans.
Instead of posting an interview with this Mandela, we have pulled parts of his forum posts to illustrate the fighting philosophy that has built Mandela up to become this months fans favorite.
