Blackwater USA to Host 2004 World SWAT Conference and Challenge May 17-22, 2004

Blackwater USA has partnered with OnTarget Communications and the Virginia Beach Police Department to create the first "World SWAT Conference and Challenge" May 17-22, 2004.

Moyock, NC and Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) April 14, 2004 -- Never before in the history of the world has there been such a need for men and women who can respond effectively to our most critical incidents. Blackwater USA, the world's largest firearms and tactical training facility has put together a conference to meet that need that is unlike any other before it. Four tracks will be offered: Executive Management, Weapons, Tactics, and Sniper. The three-day conference will begin each morning with a 90-minute presentation from noted experts in resolving hostage situations, suicide bomber profiling, and the psychology of operating and surviving critical incidents. Following the presentations will be lectures by world-renowned former and current operators from the FBI's HRT and Critical Incident Response Group, LAPD SWAT, and many others and will be enhanced by live-fire application on our state-of-the-art ranges and in our live-fire shoot houses. Space is still available to certified and sworn law enforcement officers at $395 per person.

The conference will conclude with a dinner where Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor General John Gordon will be the keynote speaker. The dinner is open to all local, state, and federal first responders (sworn law enforcement officers, fire and rescue, DHS, and EMS) and all local U. S. Coast Guardsmen in the Hampton Roads, VA, and Northeast North Carolina regions.

Following the conference, the invitation-only competition begins. International teams, military teams, and US domestic teams will demonstrate their SWAT skills in eight events, and the competition will be televised on ESPN. Vendors will also be present to demonstrate the latest in SWAT and first responder gear and technology. Vendor space is still available at $800 per 10 x 10 booth.

The World SWAT Challenge is open to the public May 21-22, 2004. Events begin at 8:00 a.m. Blackwater USA can only permit up to 5,000 spectators, and no personal vehicles will be permitted on the facility. Parking will be primarily provided at the Currituck Middle School and all visitors will be bused into Blackwater. Concessions and drinks will be available. All visitors must have a valid photo ID in their possession.

MEDIA: The World SWAT Conference May 18-20, 2004 is a closed event; however, all media are invited to attend the World SWAT Challenge on May 21-22, 2004. All members of the media must RSVP to SWATMediaRSVP@blackwaterusa.com no later than May 7, 2004. You must RSVP with the full name of the organization you represent, the full name of every person attending from that organization, and a working phone number, FAX number, and email address.
