National Dance Week Events Named to Top 100 Tourism Events in New York State
Recognition given to National Dance Week events in New York State
ITHACA, NY (PRWEB) April 16, 2004 -- The events of The Community Foundation of Tompkins County for National Dance Week have been named to the "TOP 100 Tourism Events in New York State," bringing recognition to the area's dance week efforts to the public across the state and beyond. The events scheduled will cover the entire ten day period of April 23-May 2, 2004 and include hundreds of participants around the greater Ithaca area. The Ithaca celebration is spearheaded by Barbara Thuesen, Regional Director for National Dance Week (barbara@musicinmotion.com).
Events include an exhibit of dance books at the Tompkins County Library; a Dance Art Show at Wessex-Bristol Gallery; the Ithaca Ballet Spring Performance at State Theatre; an Informal Showcase at Community School of Music & Art, Inc.; a Poetry & Storytelling by County Historian Katharyn Howd Mchan at the Wessex-Bristol Gallery; the World Dance Day Reception at Wessex-Bristol followed by a ballroom demonstration; and the Cornell University Caribbean Dancers for the Grande Finale on May 1st and 2nd. Over 300 dancers will showcase their civilizations, traditions and ethnicity with African, American Jazz, Ballet, Ballroom, Belly, Chinese, Caribbean, Dance of Yoga, East Indian, Hip Hop, Latino, Modern, Musical Theatre, Tap. The National Dance Week celebration in Ithaca is generously sponsored by the Community Foundation of Tompkins County, Eagle Broadcasting, Inc., Ithaca Festival, Inc., McNeil Music, Music In Motion(R), DIBA, Tompkins County Room Occupancy Tax Fund, and Wilcox Press, Inc.
