High-Def TV Pilot Premieres In Denver

Imagine a cross between Touched By an Angel and The Hitchhiker, and thats what you get with Bed of Dreams, a Denver-based TV pilot that debuted in March at a private premier party in Denver catered by "Celebrity Chef" Keith Jones. (www.champagnechef.com)

(PRWEB) April 16, 2004 --Starring Denver actor Colin Cheadle, the pilot was scripted and directed by Ulysses Porter Brown. Bed of Dreams is the latest production by Denver Entertainment Group and Main Man Films, LLC. Main Man Films is a multimedia, film and video production company based in Denver, which specializes in the production of family friendly programs. The program is a collaboration between several different production companies, including Tir na nOg, Know Budget Cinemakers,(founded by Glenn Plummer, Charles Underwood & Art Thomas), and Summertime Productions.

The executive vice president of Denver Entertainment Group is Art Thomas, soon-to-be co-producer of the Urban Spectrum Live show. A native of Detroit, Thomas worked for 23 years in the shipping industry before he decided to indulge his lifelong passion for screen writing and video production. He started a nonprofit organization in Denver called the Denver Writers Society, a support group for would-be screen writers.

"I ended up waking up one day and realizing that we had had months and months of meetings and all we were doing was talking about the idea of making short films and movies," he recalled. "I decided to invest money into the equipment and just got into it to see how deep the water is. My first project was 50-50, a six-minute experimental film about the terrors of divorce.

Shot in San Francisco, Denver, Miami, and Los Angeles, the short was produced on a shoestring budget and later was featured at the Anchorage Film Festival.

The pilot of the Bed of Dreams series, The Power of the Quilt, focuses on the relationship of Carl, played by Dean Compton, and Sarah, who is played by Constance Elmore. Carl has imperiled his marriage by gambling away the family fortune, but a visit by a mysterious drifter (Cheadle), brings an unexpected and welcome resolution to their marital conflict.

Created by Shirley Woods, the series will feature a different theme and local cast and crew for each episode. The recurring character will be the mysterious Jonathan, played by Cheadle, whose brother is the film actor Don Cheadle. According to Thomas, the series will "serve up real life situations and headline news along with providing resolutions while uncovering the people, places, characters, and country that make up the cultural fabric of America."

The pilot was produced by Annie Schlax, (www.tirnanogproductions.com), who has more than 20 years of experience as a producer and production manager for television and film. Her credits include rock videos, independent feature films, educational and industrial videos, commercials, and animated projects. The director of photography was Robert Shaw, an Emmy-award winner who has worked on Cheers, Seventh Heaven, and Eight Is Enough.. The executive producers were Charles B. Underwood, cousin of actor, Blair Underwood and James E. Mitchell.
