Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. Completes Demolition of Former Gist-Brocades Plant

Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. was contracted by the Shushana Company to completely demolish the former Gist-Brocades Plant located in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

(PRWEB) April 17, 2004 --The scope of work included demolition of all structures, preparing, sizing and crushing concrete for stockpiling onsite and general grading of the site.

The plant was first isolated by conducting utility disconnects. Asbestos abatement of piping was then conducted throughout the facility. Demolition of all structures was then completed utilizing company owned equipment including a Komatsu 400-6 Excavator w/ Shear attachment, several Komatsu PC-300s with grapple attachments, a Cat 977L, a Fiat Wheel Loader FR-12, several skid steers, dump, trailer and rolloff trucks. Scrap metal was sized and sent offsite for recycling. Approximately 2000 ton of scrap metal was recycled. The concrete was prepared and sized utilizing a pulverizer mounted on a 400-size Komatsu excavator. The sized material was then fed into Dallas Contractings Eagle 1000-15 portable impact concrete crusher. The crushed concrete was sized to two inch minus and stockpiled onsite. In total, approximately 20,000 tons of concrete was crushed. Rebar was sorted from the crushed material and recycled offsite. The site was then graded for drainage purposes. Work was completed within four (4) months without incident or injury.
