Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 18, 2004 --Bailiwick Repertorys production of SIN: A CARDINAL DEPOSED continues on its remarkable journey by traveling to Boston June 9-27, 2004. Since its world-premier in Chicago in March, it has received both audience and critical acclaim. Ed Siegel of The Boston Globe wrote It almost seems as if the cardinal himself is onstage." Stephen Kinzer of the New York Times remarked that SIN was Searing... Many in Sundays audience were visibly moved, some to tears."

In Boston, SIN will perform Wednesdays-Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Fridays at 8:00 PM, Saturdays at 3:00 PM & 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Regent Theatre, 7 Medford Street, Arlington, MA. Tickets are $30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and $40 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tickets can be purchased online at www.acardinaldeposed.com or by calling 781-646-4849.

We are looking for partners of all kinds to help us make this move to Boston," states David Zak, Artistic Director of Bailiwick, noting that after an initial invitation to perform in Boston was withdrawn, Bailiwick Repertory decided to take the unusual step of producing the road-trip itself. We are looking for donors and sponsors to help underwrite the theatre rental, actor fees and housing, and travel costs. Those interested can contact our company manager Mark Steel at Mark@bailiwick.org."

Zak continued, While this is an undeniable risk for a non-profit of our size, our strongest desire was to see this unique production brought to a Boston audience as soon as possible. We hope that the extraordinary response the show has received in Chicago will be matched by every community in Boston touched by this tragedy."

Bailiwick Repertory is also pleased to announce a second extension of SIN in Chicago. Starting May 15, SIN will run Wednesdays at 8:00 PM, Saturdays at 4:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM through June 30th. Tickets in Chicago are $22 on Wednesdays and $25 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Bailiwick will be bringing the entire original Chicago cast to Boston. Jim Sherman plays Cardinal Bernard Law. Patrick Rybarczyk portrays attorney Mitchell Garabedian in Act 1, in the matter of Father John Geoghan, and Mark A. Steel portrays attorney Roderick MacLeish, Jr. in Act 2, in the matter of Father Paul Shanley. Steve Best portrays J. Owen Todd, attorney for Cardinal Law, while Naomi Landman and Patrick Gannon play multiple characters -- lawyers, survivors, and others involved with the case. A second cast -- featuring Gene Cordon as Cardinal Law - will take over in Chicago while the first cast is on the road.

Chris Jones in the Chicago Tribune called SIN an intensely emotional and disturbing new docu-drama" that feels like a long but important kick in the teeth." Hedy Weiss in the Chicago Sun-Times called SIN all the more powerful for its minimalism...reminiscent of Abby Manns JUDGEMENT AT NURENBURG."

In the tradition of outstanding docu-dramas" like THE LARAMIE PROJECT and EXECUTION OF JUSTICE, Michael Murphys SIN is a collage of testimonies of, by and surrounding Cardinal Bernard F. Law -- the Catholic leader whose governance of his diocese was questioned and scrutinized when years of sexual abuse by diocesan priests finally came to light. This searing and emotional work is comprised entirely of testimony taken from the Cardinals deposition in this case involving hundreds of priests and victims, and a case that still ricochets in todays headlines.
