Arabic Day at Penobscot School in Rockland, Maine

Penobscot School, a nonprofit center for language learning and cultural exhange is hosting an Arabic Day with Mohamed Ferhaoui of Morocco

(PRWEB) April 18, 2004 --The Penobscot School in Rockland will host an Arabic Day on May 8th from 2-6 PM. The event will be followed by a potluck dinner. Mohamed Ferhaoui of Morocco will lead the Arabic Day with the support of his Beginning Arabic class at Penobscot School. The public is cordially invited to the Arabic Day and donations in support of the program will be accepted.

Ferhaoui will present an introduction to Standard Arabic, both written and oral. He will also talk about Arabic culture in his homeland of Morocco. There will be photos, music, food and a variety of exhibits to give participants a more in-depth picture at Arabic culture. Ferhaoui emigrated to the United States recently after years of teaching Arabic in the public school system in Morocco. He will bring a personal perspective to the language and culture of Morocco. Executive Director, David Clough, comments, This will be the schools first Arabic Day and given todays world events, it has never been more timely. I hope that anyone with an interest in the language and culture of the Middle East will come to the school to meet Mohamed, he is an extraordinary individual and a wonderful teacher."

Penobscot School will offer an introduction to Arabic this summer, along with foreign language courses in French, Italian, Japanese and Spanish, and childrens programs in Japanese, Russian and Spanish.
