(PRWEB) April 20, 2004 --The Annual Writers Notes Book Awards--defining excellence in independent publishing--offers three distinct categories for childrens authors: childrens books (stories and picture books), young adult (juvenile and teen), and legacy (books over 2 years old).
The awards are sponsored by Writers Notes Magazine, which is the latest brainchild of cult author Christopher Klim (Everything Burns, Jesus Lives in Trenton). Writers Notes Magazine contains stories, essays, interviews, poetry, and visual arts. It is being compared to the early releases of Story and The Paris Review. Its a collection of ideas," says senior editor Klim. Ideas arent circulating like they were 30 years ago. Its a forum for people to get their words and concepts before the public."
The 2004 book award winners include a diversity of titles for kids. In the childrens books category, Hildegarde and the Great Green Shirt Factory proved that the story needed to be as captivating as the pictures. Children are very discerning readers. They immediately cast aside an unappealing book, and by all accounts, The Thirsty Horse of Mongolia is an unusual book in design and execution, yet a classic story for young adults, including no small number of grownups.
Heres a breakdown of the winning titles for children:
