Cenero Helps Improve the Quality of Education at The Community Academy of Philadelphia

Cenero, a leader in quality video conferencing and audiovisual solutions, has successfully completed the design and installation of a wide-ranging set of audio and video solutions for The Community Academy of Philadelphia.

West Chester, PA (PRWEB) April 22, 2004 --- On March 1st, 2004 the students in Marianne Finnegans 8th grade class, for the first time had the unique opportunity to discuss, interact, and learn about satellites in space from exceptional teachers at the Brownsburg Institute in Indiana. It was an extraordinary class that would not have been possible without the new Video Conferencing system that was professionally installed by Cenero. The addition of a dedicated microphone in the room produced a quality of sound and video made this event a truly inspiring one for the children.

There are many other areas in the school that have benefited from the audio and video enhancements that were carefully installed by Cenero. In addition to adding a TV to every class room, sound and video equipment were integrated into their Atrium, Multi-media room, Computer Lab, Boardroom, and more.

The faculty and students say the sound in the Atrium is amazing," states Jim Cummins, Instructional Technology Specialist at The Community Academy. As a centerpiece for our facility, our Atrium is utilized for many important activities including performances and assemblies, so the quality of the sound is critical -- Cenero exceeded our expectations."

The gymnasium, which is used for sporting events, plays, and musicals, also needed some sound attention," states Cummins. There is a stage in front of the gymnasium in which Cenero put in a great sound system that included stage microphones, speakers, and three wireless microphones. The students can play CDs and cassettes and Cenero put jacks on the stage so a keyboard player or DJ can easily plug their equipment directly into the system. We just had a student talent show that was great for the students and the audience because the sound was so exceptional. The AV multi media room is also very important to the school -- Cenero installed a LCD projector, multi-media podium, which supports video and tele-conferencing, and a document camera all tied to a dedicated computer system. They also included video distribution which allows the school to easily distribute video and audio throughout the building. The room also contains a sound system and projection screen for the projector that is used for multi-media presentations, guest speakers, and video conferencing.

Overall we were very satisfied with the professionalism and quality of the audio and video products and services Cenero provided to our school," state Cummins. They were there from the beginning to the end and made certain that we were satisfied with the solution they provided. I would recommend Cenero to any company that is looking for a complete audio visual solution and needs a reliable company that stands behind its products and solutions."

Community Academy of Philadelphia (CAP) was the first Philadelphia school to receive a charter in 1997, and one of the first charter schools founded in the state of Pennsylvania. From 1998 through 2001, CAP served grades 6-12. In 1994, CAP opened its day care center and 1997 a teen clinic. The Emotional Support Team was created in 2000, including a staff psychiatrist, two therapists, and two social workers. CAP was the only Philadelphia charter school in 2001 to receive approval for enrollment expansion. Therefore, kinder garden to grade 3 classes were added in autumn 2001 at a satellite location. In 2002, CAP continued its expansion with grades 4 and 5 opening a second satellite campus. Community Academy recently opened its new state-of-the-art school site to serve over 1,000 students in grades K-12. By 2006, CAP plans to top out with three mini-schools, lower (day care and K-4), middle (5-8), and upper (9-12) with 1,200 students.
