Twenty-eight years ago a tornado that moved through Comfort, Texas ripped a giant live oak tree from the ground, roots and all.

The Tornado Seed sat as a huge clump of dirt until a few years ago when John and his partner Kate decided to investigate. With a crowbar they were able to break some of the dirt away and realized that the dirt clod was really a giant root structure. They used a crane to move the structure to a suitable place to work on it. After 2.5 years of dirt removal, triple sand blasting, sanding and the application of a polyurethane coat, Tornado Seed was created.

The twisted root structure has many faces to it - viewers are able to find horses, human faces, a wizard, birds, Scream and many more strange designs throughout.

It is permanently mounted on a steel structure to give the work of art stability.

Visit eBay today and search under Tornado Seed to find this unusual piece of art.
