Legendary Rock Band, The Cure, Widely Renowned As The Architect of Modern Rock, To Be Inducted Into Hollywood's RockWalk

The Cure will be honored by Hollywood's RockWalk in recognition of the group's significant and lasting impact to music

(PRWEB) April 22, 2004 --
WHO: Internationally renowned for their distinctive style and highly original ethereal sounds, The Cure is one of the most consistent and influential bands of all time. In a career spanning more than 25 years, and with record sales exceeding 28 million worldwide, the band has firmly established itself as a definitive force in shaping modern rock as we know it today. Alternative before the alternative genre even existed, and unconfined by trends, the band achieved a number of hit singles and albums with their distinct compositions that continue to stand the test of time. Formed in 1976 by frontman Robert Smith, whose trademark voice and penchent for creating and exploring haunting pop sounds, and unique emotional places, guided the legendary band to sold-out international stadium tours and ongoing acclaim. The Cure's popular 1985 release `The Head On The Door," featuring the vibrant hit single "Inbetween Days," and followed by "Close To you," became the first Cure album to break into the U.S. Top 50. The 1989 release of the instant and eternal classic `Disintegration,' a culmination of Smith's finest stylistic experiments, topped the charts worldwide and gave The Cure a Top 10 hit single with "Love Song." The group is GRAMMY nominated for it's 2000 release `Bloodflowers,' regarded by many as their best studio album, and in 1991 received a Brit Award for Best British Group. The Cure became a part of American pop culture with Smith's memorable appearance on South Park and their notable contribution to The X Files album. Their music is currently featured in the major motion picture 50 First Dates starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.
