10 arrested in Malaysian online betting ring

Mustafa Abdullah, the Kuala Lumpur police chief, said it was the third gambling ring arrested broken up since March. The bookies were taking bets valued up to 10 m ringitt ($2.63m).
'Initial investigations revealed that this syndicate has its headquarters in Hong Kong. We do not rule out that it may have links to the other two groups that were busted on April 12 and March 2,' Abdullah said, according to official Bernama news agency.
10 people aged 21 to 29 were arrested, along with a PC displaying a fixture list from an international football tournament. 22 PC monitors, a fax, three TVs and four cellular phones were taken in the raid.
'The syndicate operated its multi-million ringgit business using a website where members could log on and place their bets. Payment was made using credit cards,' Mustafa had said.
