Instruments for the Youth was created by Atlanta producer, Michael Malott who later brought in the assistance of Miami attorney and partner, Jeanette Smith.

Malott also is the creator of the much publicized Peter Tosh Tribute Album project (Eric Clapton, Sean Paul, Slash, Ben Harper, and several others). Malott formed Instruments for the Youth as a way of helping needy children and making a positive impact on their lives and furthering the efforts of music education.

The program quickly gained popularity and some of the biggest names in music showed their support, including Keith Richards, Billy Joel, Christina Aguilera, The Tonight Show, Michelle Branch, Jose Carreras, Backstreet Boys, Bush, Paul Anka, Chrissie Hyndes, Gladys
Knight, and Paul Stanley of the rock group, Kiss, No Doubt, Access Hollywood, Third Eye Blind, Charlie Daniels, John Kay, Johnny Winter, Wynonna, Tom Jones, Seal and many more.

Malott has close to the past two years worked on his highly publicized Peter Tosh Tribute Album project set for major label release later this year. He also just released a reggae benefit album. These projects resulted in a string of awards and commendations from people the likes of NELSON MANDELA, and others. Malott says he is quite happy to be making the transition back to jazz for this project. Im totally reggaeed out" states Malott who had actually been living in Negril, Jamaica for several months. This project allows us to work with different styles of music". Adds Malott who admits the foundation plans to look into both a future classical and rock release.

Instruments for the Youth currently shares a website it calls home with the Tosh Tribute Album project which is also a non profit project. The website located at www.ptosh.com has won awards and has entertained over 110,000 visitors. The Instruments for the Youth page can be directly accessed at www.instrumentsfortheyouth.org. Last year, Malott was presented with the Worldwide Ambassadors Humanitarian Award with Honors and his efforts have been commended by Nelson Mandela, the Prime Minister of Canada and the Prime Minister of Trinidad.
