Northern Xposure was born as an initiative to help 'x'pose unsigned bands to a wider fan base and the music industry. Starting in Manchester and Sheffield the company soon grew and now promotes from 14 venues up and down the country. Xpo music (pronounced x-po) is now the head company for promotions with Northern Xposure used as a branded unsigned event.
The general idea behind Northern Xposure is to get more exposure for unsigned bands and to take the leg work out of getting gigs around the country at quality and respected venues. This should be considered the next level for bands who have gigged reguarly locally and want to move to the next stage in their bands development.
As most bands members will know, sending out demos and ringing venues can be costly and time consuming, especially if you're a hard working band. Everyone who works at Northern Xposure have been in unsigned / signed bands and understand the difficulties that are involved in gigging. We have backing and commitment by organisations such as Mean Fiddler who support us at their venue The Garage in London.
We will soon be producing a regular C.D. which will contain tracks from bands that have impressed us on our live shows, this will be aimed at our A&R contacts and comes with no expense to the bands.
All bands taking part in Northern Xposure will be featured on our web site www.nx.rocks.it, and one band from each gig will me marketed by our PR company to try and get that band press both locally and possibly nationally.
We aim and succeed at having well attended shows at all our venues, and have regular A&R attendance at our London shows. All our unsigned gigs are based on pre-ticket sales, this encourages bands to get fans to their gigs and ensures pretty much a full house. Based on an average gig bands will have to sell a minimum of 25 tickets, but will receive all tickets sales after the initial 20, and a beer rider is thrown in as well.
Support slots are also available for the bands that leave a lasting impression. These slots are usually at larger sold-out venues and are with established signed acts.
Recent support slots were given to unsigned acts supporting Puressence (Island Records), The Chameleons (Helter Skelter) and The Electric Soft Parade.
If you would like to get involved with Northern Xposure please get in touch.
