ETCs Theatre of the Mind 2003-2004 Series Concludes with Performances May 3 & 10; The Immie Queen on May 3 and Everything Ends on May 10
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) April 25, 2004 --Whats so special about the relationship between two sisters? Whats so special about a daughter and her dad? Why is it that we look for parental approval when we bring home a prospective spouse? Relationships are at the heart of the last two plays presented as part of the 2003-2004 Theatre of the Mind series at Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati.
ETC presents the regional premiere of The Immie Queen by Pauline Smolin, in collaboration with Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative, on May 3, and the world premiere of Everything Ends by Adam Parrish on May 10. Both play-readings start at 7 p.m. at the theatre, 1127 Vine Street. Tickets are $6, available by calling (513) 421-3555.
Ms. Smolin views The Immie Queen as following in the footsteps of Sophocles Oedipus The King," as a pair of ordinary sisters challenge their fate." The title refers to one sisters recollection of a childhood game of marbles. Ms. Smolins playwriting credits include The Vacation, Conversations, The Triumph of Tillie Simons, The Year of the Guru, and The Sticking Place. The Immie Queen is directed by Richard Hess, chairman of the drama department at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).
Mr. Parrish is a member of Ensemble Theatres 2003-2004 Acting Intern Company. A Cincinnati native, Mr. Parrish graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in theatre and English. He has written five full-length plays and two one-acts. This is the first professional reading of Everything Ends, a comedy that he says explores inevitability through the relationship of three couples." Well laugh at the dynamics of a couple who have just met, a couple about to become engaged, and another who have been married for a little while. Everything Ends is directed by actor/director Drew Fracher, who last appeared on the ETC stage in A Lesson Before Dying.
Im happy to be working with the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative in bringing Pauline Smolins work to the ETC stage," said D. Lynn Meyers, Ensemble Theatres Producing Artistic Director. This series is about giving playwrights a chance to work their scripts and share them with an audience. Im thrilled that Adam Parrish, one of our interns, has a great script to share and close this years season. Its a real joy."
