"Can I Use It?": Les Nouvelles Esthétiques clarifies FDA regulations on esthetics devices

The April 2004 issue of Les Nouvelles Esthétiques magazine features an informative and highly praised article about FDA regulations on esthetics devices, titled "Can I Use It?" Authored by David Suzuki, the article has garnered industry attention and praise, as well as attention from several state boards that are now using it to educate their staff on esthetics devices and to create legislation.

(PRWEB) April 26, 2004 --Trying to determine whether or not the FDA authorizes a particular device for certain uses can be a daunting task. It's easy to be confused with FDA regulations on devices used in the esthetics industry. But now, thanks to Les Nouvelles Esthétiques magazine and David Suzuki, esthetics professionals have the answers to their FDA-regulation questions at their fingertips.

In LNE's April 2004 issue, Suzuki offers readers the answers to and clarifies the complex, and oftentimes ambiguous, FDA regulations on esthetics devices. His informative article, "Can I Use It?" explains the meanings of the terms "FDA-approved," "FDA-cleared" and "FDA-registered." He also describes how manufacturers can obtain FDA registration for their devices and what esthetics professionals should look for.

"Les Nouvelles Esthetiques goal has always been to educate spa and esthetics industry professionals," says Monica Schuloff Smith, LNE editor in chief. "We have to protect the profession, and articles like David's only help to strengthen the industry's standards," she adds.

The article received immediate praise and attention from industry professionals, as well as from several state boards. Suzuki says that since the release of the April issue, he has fielded numerous calls and e-mails from LNE readers inquiring how the regulations apply to their own device usage, and from many state boards that are using the article as an educational tool in an effort to bring their staff up to speed regarding esthetics devices and as a guide to create legislation.

"The information in this article is long overdue and presents the essentials of what the industry needs to know about the rules and regulations that allow them to operate with legal, safe and applicable equipment," Suzuki asserts. "I believe that this type of information ensures that we, as estheticians, can invest in new devices with confidence."
