(PRWEB) April 25, 2004 --- The Toledo Freecycle Ohio Network is proud to announce the launch of an online message board, ToledoFreecycle. Based on the old adage that "one person's trash is another person's treasure", the Toledo Freecycle Network's goal is to connect people who wish to get rid of their old junk with those who just want free stuff. Anyone looking to discard or acquire an item is welcome at ToledoFreecycle, where all items listed are absolutely free!
Hosted by Yahoo Groups, the ToledoFreecycle board serves the following Lucas County and it's surrounding areas. Signing up for the group is simple; instructions can be found on the Toledo Freecycle Network's web site at group's Yahoo page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/toledofreecycle/.
The Toledo, OHIO Freecycle Network is inspired by and modeled after the Tucson Freecycle Network, founded in March 2003 and recently profiled in the September/October 2003 issue of Utne magazine. Created by the non-profit group "Downtown Don't Waste It", the Tucson Freecycle Network has sparked a worldwide "freecycling" revolution, with groups in a dozen cities and several countries thus far. To see grassroots at its best, visit the home of the "freecycling" movement at www.freecycle.org.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Americans recycle approximately 28% of its garbage, thus keeping 64 million tons of waste out of landfills across the country. The Toledo Freecycle Network would like to see the nation's rate of recycling rise even higher. Toledo residents are encouraged to join the ToledoFreecycle group and "freecycle" their trash rather than just tossing it away. Together, we can build a brighter tomorrow.
