New York, NY (PRWEB) April 25, 2004 ---History International returned to Zona Design for an identity and promotion package, which includes a :10 open, promotion tools, promo close, transitions and line-up menus, for its new primetime programming block Military History." The two-evening weekend block, launched in April, will air Saturdays and Sundays from 8pm to 12 midnight ET/5pm to 9pm PT, and presents a wide range of programming on military history, military events and important military figures, subjects which have always been a vital part of the international historical focus that is the hallmark of History International.
Zona Design, the New York-based motion design and branding studio, took great care with the images it chose for the design of this identity and promo package - creating powerful art in motion for Military History" in the process.
The Zona team chose to create a vibrant global view using military equipment - tanks, battleships, planes, trucks - and their motion. This strong military iconography combined with technical diagrams, and the stenciled typography so closely identified with military equipment and supplies, was then layered over 3D map-like environments based on stripes -- from generals bars to camouflage tactics, from runways to advance linear directions -- which created perspective and helped with transitions. We strove for a bold, international feel which would evoke the military experience on both sides of the Atlantic," explained Zona Creative Director Zoa Martinez. We also chose an authentic Army-Navy store color palette to which we added metal, grit and mud to create a strong graphic which we can expand as the package expands," she added. The Military History" logo was supplied by the channel.
"When it came to choosing a highly creative design team for 'Military
History there was only one choice, Zona Design, said Timothy Nolan, Director Special Projects The History Channel Consumer Marketing. Branding a block of all military programming needed to be unique and exciting, but sensitive. Zona's vision was to keep everything 'techy, which kept true to our male demo. The design and entire package received rave reviews both internally and externally."
In addition to Creative Director Zoa Martinez, Zonas seasoned team, known for its distinctive and effective designs, included Executive Producer Dennis Fluet; Senior Designer Mark Lee; 3D Maya Animator Carlos Molinas; Visual Effects Compositor/Designer Keith Kin Yan. Zona Design utilized Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator and Maya in the execution of this project.
The visuals are underscored by Megatrax: Impact Trailers Vol. 1: MX139: Track 17: Soldier X. There was no audio mix.
