MAGDRL is committed to helping abandoned, neglected and/or abused Danes find forever homes. With over 350 volunteers and serving seven states of the Mid-Atlantic region (NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, VA, DC, WV, NC, and SC ), they provide the means to spay/neuter, necessary medical treatment and train/socialize the Danes in their care to ensure adaptability in their new homes.

One of the most common reasons for surrendering a Great Dane is its size. Owners often claim that they didn't realize how big the puppy would get when full-grown. At any given time, we have between 70-90 Danes available.

Their volunteers also educate the public and potential owners about caring for this wonderful breed through various community efforts. They are a DC corporation and has a charitable tax-exemption under code 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. MAGDRL is staffed completely by volunteers. Therefore, 100% of the funds donated goes to helping our Great Danes.

For more information about adoption, donations or volunteering, visit the MAGDRLs New Jersey Chapters website at: www.magdrl-nj.com/index.html.

Mike Venezia, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue (MAGDRL) volunteer stands with his two Great Danes, Shadow and the late Goliath, next to the actual scale model train set that people will ride on June 5, 2004 at MAGDRL’s annual Trains for Danes. Goliath was the inspiration for the event to raise money for MAGDRL. After Mike and his wife, Kim, adopted Goliath they realized that these gentle giants really do need our help. The Venezia’s offered to host a day of family fun at their home with train rides, crafts, raffles and food to help raise much needed funding for MAGDRL’s dogs, just like Goliath. Join us on June 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 310 S. Hope Chapel Road, Jackson, N.J.
