African-American Owned Creative Firm Wins Three Silver Addy's During Awards Show
New Orleans based creative firm EVENT CO. took home three silver certificates during this year's Addy Awards Show hosted by the Advertising Club of New Orleans on Friday, March 12 at Generations Hall. The African-American owned firm was recognized for its superior work on advertising campaigns promoting businesses within the city's hospitality and tourism industries during the ceremony.

The African-American owned firm was recognized for its superior work on advertising campaigns promoting businesses within the city's hospitality and tourism industries during the ceremony.
EVENT CO.-which specializes in event planning, print design, public relations and Web design-walked away from the competition as winners in three categories including interactive media and collateral material. The firm's winning entries included Web sites for Hubbard Mansion Bed & Breakfast and New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network, and collateral material for Hubbard Mansion Bed & Breakfast.
This year's competition was the first for EVENT CO. "Hard work really does pay. The goal in each of our campaigns is to provide clients with quality services. In this case we've satisfied the client and impressed the industry-simultaneously. My team is definitely excited about bringing home the gold next year," said EVENT CO. president and creative director, Trellis Smith. Smith, 27, is the founder of the six-year-old firm.
The 2004 Addy Awards Show attracted some of the advertising industries best and brightest firms including Deveney Communication, Keating Magee Advertising, Peter A. Mayer Advertising and Zehnder Communications, Inc.
The Addy's are the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising. Every year approximately 60,000 entries are submitted in local Addy competitions.
Selection of the most creative entry in each category is effected by a scoring process in which a panel of judges evaluates the creative dimensions of every entry. Entries that are considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive a Silver Addy. The number of awards given in each category is determined by the judges, based on their opinions of the quality of work in that category.
