Competition on the Web, for the Web: Fosod Design Studios

Fosod.com breaks through new barriers in peculiar Web design competition.

(PRWEB) May 3, 2004 -- On May 1st, Fosod Design Studios (www.fosod.com) revamped its award-winning web site as part of the May1Reboot; a contest sponsored by Media Temple, Inc..

Fosod Design Studios is a web development firm located in the New York Metropolitan area that offers custom graphical design, software development and search engine optimization services. First launched in January of 2004, Fosod's Creative Director Walter Stevenson remarked on the creation of this new version of the site, "In Fosod.com's second iteration, we tirelessly pushed for the most simple, easy-to-use and elegant web site we could collectively imagine. Of course, this meant critique after critique, and perseverance in the face of countless obstacles, but I believe the final product is truly a testament to the months of hard work and dedication that it took to make the new site so clean, so fast, and so very beautiful!"

The event that spawned the redesign, held by may1reboot.com, is a non-profit competition sponsored by Media Temple, Inc. (provider of Web hosting and managed services) that pulls together the thousands of world's finest web developers every year to showcase their artistic and technical abilities, simultaneously replenishing the Internet with brand-new content and cutting-edge designs. A panel of 12 judges determines 12 winners at the end of the month, who are rewarded with "free web hosting for life" from mediatemple.net; a seductive proposition to storage and bandwidth-hungry web developers.

The new fosod.com has added a number of valuable features over the old site. Most notably, it is backward-compatible with version 6 of Macromedia, Inc.'s Flash Player, meaning that almost 95% of all Internet users will be able to view the rich Internet content without concern. Next, the overall file size of the site was significantly decreased, improving download speed and ridding the need for a loading window. The logo and branding elements were completely overhauled as well as the color scheme, to reflect a serious commitment to corporate marketing and appeal to a wider audience. The new fosod.com streams music to the Web browser right at launch, and has added an interactive contact form, simplifying the inquiry process.
