Reno Hotel Makes Mother's Day Memorable

Mother’s Day meals will be served in the Coffee Shop, the Steak House, Romanza Ristorante Italiano, White Orchid and a bountiful buffet will be set up in the second floor Convention Center.

The special Mother’s Day Brunch in the Convention Center will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $15.95 for adults and $7.95 for children 4 to 11.

The bountiful brunch will offer chilled selections like seasonal salads, chilled peeled shrimp on ice, cracked crab leg, oysters on the half shell, house smoked salmon and much more.

Hot selections include eggs and omelets cooked to order, hickory smoked bacon with grilled sausage, eggs Benedict, potato pancakes, roast spring lamb, veal medallions, poached Pacific salmon, grilled chicken breast, Cabernet braised beef tips and rainbow rotelle with bay shrimp.

The carvery in the Convention Center will offer roast prime rib of beef and honey glazed ham.

Save room for dessert because there will be a mouth watering selection of sweet delicacies including cakes, pies, tortes and cookies.

The Peppermill’s 24-hour Coffee Shop, a locals’ favorite for over 30 years, will feature Dungeness crab Benedict, toasted English muffins topped with Dungeness crabmeat, three freshly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce for $12.95 per guest from 7 a.m. to 5p.m. The Coffee Shop will also be serving from its regular menu.

The Peppermill’s Steak House, voted Reno’s best, will serve its special Mother’s Day menu from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The meal begins with mixed baby greens with red and yellow pear tomatoes, Parmesan chards and balsamic Vinaigrette. The soup is creamy Yukon gold potato and pancetta with spring chive chantilly. There will be two entrée choices, veal piccata with wild mushroom essence, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, or pan roasted king salmon stuffed with Dungeness crabmeat, confetti rice and root vegetables. Dessert is cherry and pistachio coupe and almond nougat with morello cherry compote. The cost is $39 or $50 with special wines served with each course.

The intimate Romanza Ristorante Italiano’s special Mother’s Day meal will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It begins with asparagus bisque with smoked chicken and white truffle froth followed by Dungeness crabmeat stuffed tortelloni with creamy lobster sauce. The entrée choices are braised shank of baby lamb with balsamic reduction, wild mushroom polenta and root vegetables or oak grilled halibut with sun dried tomatoes and kalamata olives and housemaid fettuccine, pinot grigio cream. Dessert is gelato profiteroles with warm chocolate amaretto sauce. The cost is $39 or $50 with special wines served with each course.

The elegant White Orchid, with a prestigious Four Diamond rating from AAA, will serve its special Mother’s Day meal from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It begins with an appetizer of chilled prawns stuffed with Oasis Farm goat cheese wrapped with Serrano ham, drizzled with citrus oil. The soup is English cucumber soup with red onion and cucumber salad, garnished with Oscetra caviar. The sorbet is raspberry with mango-ginger jus. There are three entrée choices. Sweet butter poached Maine lobster with saffron potato puree wilted baby spinach and tarragon cream, or oven roasted lamb chops, lemon thyme risotto, shaved manchego cheese, melage of baby vegetables or tenderloin of beef with Dungeness crabmeat, triple cream cambozola cheese and Oregon mushrooms served with Yukon gold potato puree and red wine reduction. Dessert is chocolate rum truffle cake with chambord chantilly. The cost is $60 per guest or $75 with wine selections served with each course.
