Hudsons Bay Company, Canadas Largest Retailer, Adopts Recombo Content Integration Center

National retailer adds versatility, reliability to advanced learning initiative

Vancouver, BC Canada (PRWEB) May 4, 2004 --Recombo Inc. announces that Hudsons Bay Company. (Hbc) has incorporated the Recombo Content Integration Center (CIC) as a means to improve the scope and reliability of its corporate learning program.

The Recombo CIC provides a comprehensive set of tools and services that enables training modules from multiple sources to be quickly, easily, and cost-effectively integrated into the corporate Learning Management System, the proprietary application on which online training is deployed.

Hbc selected the Recombo solution in a measure to solve interoperability issues that escalated as the popularity of learning increased and the number of online courses offered grew. Through Hbc University, the company offers full courses and training modules to its 70,000 Executives, Management, and distribution and retail staff located throughout Canada.

We faced several common compatibility issues," says Judi McDonald, Senior Manager Hbc University. Implementation delays resulted from custom content not being compatible with our LMS. Legacy content locked in proprietary formats was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. Our goal was to add more learning materials developed in-house, but this plan was delayed by ongoing content interoperability problems."

To address the problem, Hbc contracted Recombo to implement a Content Integration Center that provided standardized code, course templates, requirements, and a testing lab, that serves as a toolkit for authors and publishers when creating courses and content. Hbc receives launch-ready materials that conform to the SCORM® industry standard as well as corporate standards.

Judi McDonald reports that all content run through the CIC is launch-ready at the time of delivery. She adds that the time to publishing has been reduced by an estimated 75%, minimizing the delay between when the content is delivered to Hbc and the time it is available to Hbc learners on the LMS. As well, there is greater consistency in the content delivered by vendors which helps to create a more unified learning environment for Hbc associates.

Steven Forth, Recombos CEO says that CIC is proving its value in the marketplace for customers like Hbc by significantly reducing integration costs and streamlining compliance. CIC removes the roadblocks that once prevented timely deployment of materials and enables companies to focus on developing programs and materials that improve staff skills and not have to deal with and budget for complicated backend interoperability issues."

The complete Hbc case study and additional CIC product information can be found on the Recombo website: www.recombo.com.
