Getting Ready for Summer with Liposuction

(PRWEB) May 4, 2004 --Liposuction continues to be the most common plastic surgery procedure performed according to the recently released statistics of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. In 2003, almost 1000 patients per day underwent liposuction just in the US alone. This is a 117% increase over the past 7 years.

As summer approaches, people’s attention turns more to getting their bodies into shape. The visits to fitness centers increase as does to plastic surgeons’ offices. “Liposuction has definitely become the quick fix,” says Dr. Edward Domanskis, a plastic surgeon in Newport Beach, California, with extensive experience in body contouring.

Because of continued refinements with tumescent infiltration, ultrasonic technology, power-assisted apparatus and cannulas, liposuction or liposculpture has become less traumatic with a shorter recovery. Some of these patients can easily resume full activity within days, even without compressive bandages, and be ready for the beach within weeks with a radically altered body. And, if the patient’s weight stays constant, these results last.

“It is one of the most satisfying operations for me and my patients,” continues Dr. Domanskis, “for I am able to achieve dramatic and permanent improvement through tiny cuts and little downtime.”

No wonder liposuction continues to steadily increase in popularity, especially among the baby boomers. “Almost every individual is a candidate for liposuction, for everyone has some unwanted fat that they would love to get rid of,” concludes Dr. Domanskis.
