Robust Growth and Vitality Opportunities for Jobs in Healthcare Continue to Soar

Those with their fingers on the pulse of employment forecasting offer a healthy prognosis for individuals entering the healthcare field, as job opportunities in these vocations continue to climb. While job growth exists in many areas, the future is particularly bright for students interested in becoming Dental Assistants, Medical Assistants, Medical Secretaries, Pharmacy Technicians, Radiographers, Respiratory Therapists and Veterinary Assistants. The Department of Labor projects a 25 % increase in the number of healthcare positions between now and 2010. Many of the fastest growing occupations are concentrated in the health services field, including 13% of all job growth from 2000 to 2010. According to the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Dental Assistants, Medical Assistants, Medical Secretaries, Radiography Technicians and Respiratory Therapists are listed in the Top 20 for jobs that will be most in demand through 2010. Due to the expanding population of the elderly, as well as the increased use of innovative medical technology for intensive diagnosis and treatment, the demand for these jobs is expected to increase for 50 years.

Anticipating this growing need for healthcare practitioners, Pima Medical Institute, 780 Bay Blvd. # 101 in Chula Vista offers short-term certificate training (20 to 35 weeks depending on the program) as well as Associate of Occupational Science degrees (for Respiratory Therapy and Radiography).

We excel at nurturing competent healthcare professionals who can meet the expectations of 21st century employers by offering short-term programs for positions that are current and in demand." said Lisa LaTourette, Director of Marketing for PMI. A few months at PMI can change someones life."

Although the training is very thorough with intensive classroom and hands-on training, many of PMIs programs can be completed in less than nine months. For example, the courses for a Medical Secretary are 20 weeks with 20.5 credit hours. Additional programs include: Dental Assistant program for 33 weeks with 28 credit hours; Medical Assistant, 35 weeks with 36.5 credit hours; Pharmacy Technician, 32 weeks with 36 credit hours and Veterinary Assistant with a 31-week, 26.5 credit hours program.

The 96-week Radiography program consists of 89 credit hours of instruction. Graduates of this program are qualified to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Examination for Certificates.

Job Opportunities in Health Care

Their newest program, Respiratory Therapy, is 85 weeks with 88 credit hours. Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the National Board for Respiratory Care Technician Level Certification and the Respiratory Registry Certification.

This San Diego technical private school is helping to train and advance qualified students into fulfilling careers. Prospective students can call Pima Medical Institute at 888-239-9445 for information and assistance.

PMI is one of the premiere medical vocational institutes in the western United States.
