Romanian Legal Translation Website Launched

RomanianTranslationsOnline.com launched - the first website for legal translations into Romanian. Localising websites and adapting software for use in Romanian is a growing market and a specialised job. More and more companies are setting up in Romania but often they neglect to localise when it comes to legal translation.

Pitesti, ROMANIA, May 4, 2004 -- Why is it important to translate into Romanian?

RomanianTranslationsOnline.com summarises the current situation as follows:
-   After Poland, Romania is the largest country in Central and Eastern Europe and is expected to join the European Union in 2007.
-   Worldwide, there are about 2.4 M Romanian speakers online.*
-   The community of online Romanian speakers is growing and is expected to expand further as Romania prepares for entry into the EU.
-   There are about 27 M Romanian speakers worldwide (living in Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Canada, Israel, the US), making Romanian the world's 35th most spoken language.
-   Of the 3 500 M web pages indexed by Google, only 2.5 M of them are written in Romanian.

"Websites and software are being localised to Romanian and the translation market is growing," says Veronica Durbaca of RomanianTranslationsOnline.com, "big companies choose to localise their websites to Romanian instead of other Eastern European languages due to the larger audience they can reach. Now that large companies have established themselves and their websites in the first tier languages, Romanian speakers are increasingly seen as an important market."

New businesses are growing and many multinational companies are establishing bases in Romania to take advantage of an attractive proposition - namely cost savings, low wages and EU membership. Romanian consultants work in branches of PricewaterhouseCoopers, ING Bank, Ernst & Young and KPMG in Bucharest and Romanian companies localise their websites and products to English. On the other hand, corruption and red tape make the Romanian business environment a less-than-perfect place.

All the more reason to ensure that when translating documents, software and websites, a solid technical understanding of the Romanian legal system is employed to ensure that businesses are well prepared and well protected for a challenging environment.
