Garry Harris Named Chairman of American Nuclear Society Metro Atlanta Section
Garry A. Harris, President of HTS Enterprise LLC, has been named the new chairman of the Atlanta Section of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) for 2004-2005.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 10, 2004 -- Garry A. Harris has been named the new chairman of the Atlanta Section of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) for 2004-2005. The membership of this section of the American Nuclear Society represents over twenty-five nuclear-related companies and agencies, including the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations and the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission located in or around Atlanta, GA. In addition to being first African American Chairman of the Atlanta Metro section, Garry sits on three ANS national committees.
With an Atlanta Metro area ANS membership of over two hundred strong, Garry is excited about building a team to lead the local section into being a one of the best in the nation by emphasizing strong leadership, active organization, and excellence in structured programs, community outreach, and personal and professional development for the local ANS membership. It is his personal goal that the Atlanta Metro section grows the number of professional members, and provides a premier example of the benefits of ANS membership.
A twenty-five year veteran of the nuclear industry, Garry has consulted to or performed engineering, licensing, quality control and assurance, operations, spent fuel transportation and storage, and plant maintenance activities at nearly 70% of nuclear plant sites in the US. He holds a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification, and has the distinction of holding numerous certifications in the field of quality. A senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Garry sits on the ASQ councils for the Environmental & Energy, and the Construction & Design Divisions. His educational credentials include a BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia, a MS in Technology Management, and a MS in Quality Assurance. As the founder and president of HTS Enterprise LLC which provides engineering and quality assurance/control consulting services to the nuclear, energy, environmental, and construction/transportation industries, Garry has been honored for working diligently through a number of charities, civic and social organizations to fight against illiteracy and for creating educational opportunities for minority youth.
