End-End Software Delivers Return on Investments for Citizens Advice Bureaux

Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) has successfully deployed End-End service-centric solution that measures and monitors the performance and availability of their application from an end-user perspective. The solution is proving to be one of the catalysts for dramatic improvements to the CAB IT infrastructure.

(PRWEB) May 8, 2004 -- The Citizens Advice Bureau is one of Englands key charity bodies that provide useful services like debt, consumer, tax, housing, legal, and employment related services to the citizens of England across 2,800 locations. Recognizing the importance to provide better and faster services to the end-users and create a more efficient working environment for staff and volunteers, a 20 million nation-wide IT initiative - Citizens Connect, was started. Under this initiative, 800 bureau sites will be connected via Virtual Private Network (VPN) by October 2004, and a new e-government application, called CASE, is introduced to enable electronic case recording and filing.

Citizens Advice needed the ability to measure, on an on-going real time basis, the end-to-end performance of the CASE application as a whole. It is also necessary to have the capability to monitor the behavior of its constituent parts (Workstation, Network and Server) - a critical function in providing effective business support for an evolving application as well as supporting capacity planning for future growth.

To fulfill the service level for user requirements, and to ensure the availability of the application, especially in the case of a proprietary application like CASE, using real and not synthesized data becomes key to the IT team to manage and contain their costs while matching service-levels to user requirements.
