HARLEM, NY (PRWEB) May 8, 2004
Celebrities have been showing their support for Revival Restaurant & Lounge's new evening called "Lush Life Wednesdays" featuring jazz vocalist KJ and his band with special guest singers each week.
In its fledgling three weeks appearances have already included Marcella Lowery (from TV's The Cosby Show and The Preacher's Wife), Gale Archer (television personality), Adam Barta (pop singer, I Told Her), and Deanne Gorman (cabaret starlet). Many more sightings and guest performances are expected in the upcoming weeks with the show's growing popularity.
"I'm absolutely thrilled," says the crooner of his open-run engagement. "To be getting this recognition and validation from such wonderful people - Harlem has an incredibly rich artistic history - particularly when speaking of jazz music. I'm honored to become a square on the quilt of that fabric. Thursday, Friday, Saturday are amateur nights. You see all of those hopeless suburbanites and tourists trying incredibly hard-- and failing miserably-- to impress. That's not what Lush Life Wednesdays is about. I, the band, we believe that the only things that matter are good music, good food, and, of course, a good martini or three."
KJÂs illustrious career spans nearly 2 decades. He has appeared in many off-Broadway shows including: Beginnings, Myself & I, and Mad About the Boy. Television guest appearances include The Ricki Lake Show, and Oxygen Network's Can You Tell?. Concert engagements have taken him to Carnegie Hall and other New York hot-spots including DonÂt Tell Mama and the Duplex. Making his Australian debut at the Sydney Cabaret Convention along side diva Julie Wilson, KJ now plays the city bi-annually. 2002 saw the release of This Could Be the Start of Something (Voix Chic RecordsÂ).
Revival is located at 2367 Frederick Douglass Blvd (8th Avenue at 127th Street). Lush Life Wednesdays runs every Wednesday from 8-11pm. There is a two-drink minimum and no music charge. Reservations can be made by calling (212) 222-8338. On the web @ http://www.harlemrevival.com
