Afrikan Women's Week to Bring Healing and Empowerment to the Black Community

The 5th Annual Afrikan Womens Week seeks to heal the black community by honoring and empowering black women. Women can manifest change because they are the direct link to the youth, the future of our nation. We are honoring women with arts and crafts, live entertainment, cinema, food, etc. We are helping them to empower themselves through information on economics, history, wholistic health and healing, and education.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) May 7, 2004 -- June 19th -- 27th, 2004. Yabba Pot, The Black Vegetarian Society of Florida, Khemit Konnections and Uhuru, Inc., have collaborated to present The 5th Annual Afrikan Womens Week. The purpose of this week is to honor and empower black women. The week was born out of a need to uplift, a counter effort to the typical portrayal of the black woman as a sex object, inapt to the status quo of beauty, superficial woman with an attitude. The events of the week will take place at various venues in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

Events throughout the week will highlight her strengths, natural inner and outer beauty, intelligence, ingenuity and the positive role that she has assumed throughout history.

The cultural celebrations, films, lectures, panels and workshops, which take place every year during the summer solstice, are geared towards unity, education and empowerment for black women and the community at large.

The black woman holds the key to change. She is the gateway for future generations. In order to give birth to vibrant, harmonious, intelligent and progressive communities, she must be physically, mentally and spiritually balanced."
