PSECU Presents Scholarship and Sponsorship Funds to Harrisburg SBI Students

PSECU recently hosted a special group of students preparing for their future in the business world. During the visit, PSECU announced both a $500 sponsorship and $1,000 scholarship for Harrisburg High Schools School of Business and Industry (SBI) Prep School Program.

Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) May 9, 2004 -- PSECU recently hosted a special group of students preparing for their future in the business world. During the visit, PSECU announced both a $500 sponsorship and $1,000 scholarship for Harrisburg High Schools School of Business and Industry (SBI) Prep School Program.
   
PSECU employee Darlene Alton presented the check to Clenistine Dunson of the Harrisburg SBI Prep Program. The announcement of the funds followed the students presentations to a panel of professionals. Student teams developed a business and presented their mission statement, balance sheet and income and expense statements. Following their presentations, they answered questions from the panel on their goals and strategies.

The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating SBI student to help defer the cost of higher education. We are pleased to support the development of this program and to have this relationship with Harrisburg High Schools SBI Prep program," said PSECU Public Relations Administrator, Margaret Delmonico. This is one of many efforts in support of youth and education. Todays youth are very important to us. Our financial literacy initiatives also emphasize that importance."

The program is a partnership between the Harrisburg School District and Florida A & M Universitys School of Business and Industry. Harrisburg High School offers the program as an honors elective, where students must maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average. During the three-year program, students shadow" a mentor in the workplace, are required to complete oral and written presentations and research a company.
