(PRWEB) May 9, 2004 --In their continuing effort to support a variety of humanitarian causes, this week The Compassion Project and abstract painter Marti Garaughty announced a new campaign to give away over $5000 in fine art gift certificates to raise awareness for everything from cancer research to animal welfare and human rights.
The Compassion Project was launched in the fall of 2003 by Marti Garaughty and art consultant Giselle St.Cyr. "After speaking with various charites and foundations, we found what a lot of them were seeking in addition to funding, was publicity. With so many groups competing for attention and funds, we decided to use our resources and public visibility to do our part to support some of these very important causes." says St.Cyr.
"In our current campaign, visitors to our website have a chance to receive one of 200 gift certificates being given away by garaughty.com. All we ask is that they take a look at the website of any of the groups we're sponsoring."
St.Cyr also said that "In the coming months garaughty.com and The Compassion Project will be expanding the scope of our project to include auctioning original paintings to raise funds as well as giving away gift certificates to people who make donations to any of the causes we support."
"It has been an exciting and rewarding way for us to give back to the world community and hopefully what we're doing will inspire others to do the same" said Garaughty.
