(PRWEB) May 9, 2004 --Blackbusinesscircle.com is set to feature Dr. Gabriel Toks Pearse as speaker at its upcoming 2004 Annual Economic Empowerment Explosion Summit & Expo. Dr. Gabriel Toks Pearse will be speaking on the U.S. Census Bureau and how failing to complete census forms impacts the African-American community in an adverse way. He will explain how when we fail to complete the census forms, it can have a devastating economic impact on our community.
Dr. Pearse received his educational training in Kano, Nigeria, Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and in Sheffield, England. In Sheffield, he obtained a doctorate in English with emphasis in Africana Studies. While studying for his Ph.D. in England, Dr. Pearse served as Vice President of a community-based organization called Caribbean Cultural International. In addition, he worked for BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) as an interviewer and as host for the review program African Book of the Day". Living in Chicago from 1986 to 1992, Dr. Pearse worked in several capacities; at Chicago State University as Consultant to Mayor Harold Washington, the first black mayor of the city, as contributing editor to Operation Push Magazine as well as Chairman of the International Task Force for Reverend Jesse Jacksons Rainbow Coalition in the State of Illinois.
Dr.Pearse worked as Director for Intergovernmental Affairs and Community Relations in the Cook County Clerks Office. In 1991, Pearse was Ambassador of Goodwill from Gary, Indiana and Maywood, Illinois on a trade mission to Georgia in the former Soviet Socialist Republic (Russia). In the Same Year, Dr. Pearse acted as the Chairman of the Protocol Committee at the International Conference of Black Mayors meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Pearse continues to work as a volunteer for Philanthropic Organizations like Children Health Care and Nutritional Goals through Education" (C.H.A.N.G.E.) of Massachusetts and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center of New York.
In addition, he is a political consultant, a Real Estate Developer and an Educator, teaching classes in the Department of Literature, Language and communications at Mercy College and in the Africana Studies Department of Brooklyn College.
