Comment on few unintentional omissions mentioned in the FIFA report

The Egyptian 2010 bid committee would like to comment on few unintentional omissions mentioned in the FIFA report.

(PRWEB) May 10, 2004 --The Egyptian 2010 bid committee thanks FIFA for their transparency in publishing the FIFA Inspection teams reports on its web site, the inspection team believed that there is potential for an excellent World Cup to be staged in Egypt and also came to the conclusion that Egypt is capable of organizing a very good World Cup.

However the Egyptian 2010 bid committee would like to comment on few unintentional omissions mentioned in the FIFA report:

  • EGYPT HONOURS
African Futsal Championship: Winners 1996 & 2000
Will organize African qualifications (June 2004)

  • TELECOMUNICATIONS
In this sector Egypt is the only country of the African continent to have two satellites: Nile sat 1 and Nile sat 2, something which was not mentioned in the FIFA report and which have demonstrated Egypts leading position in Africa in this sector and which have boosted Egypts telecommunications and overall evaluation in the report.

  • TRANSPORT
A) AIRPORTS

The inspection group used more than the three mentioned airports (Cairo, Alexandria and Luxor).

They have also used ( Borg El Arab, Port Said, Sharm El Sheikh and El Gouna Hurghada)

B) SEAPORTS
In addition to the mentioned Alexandria Port On the Mediterranean Sea, fans could also arrive from Europe to Port Said and Damietta Ports.

In addition to the mentioned Suez Port on the Red Sea, fans could also arrive from Asia and Africa to Aqaba, Sharm El Sheikh, Ain Sokhana, Hurghada and Safaga Ports.

C) PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN THE TOWNS
Whereby the FIFA report mentions that Egypt has plans to build an underground metro system, the fact is that Cairo already has a sophisticated underground system, which is operating since 1987 and covering most of central & greater Cairo districts under crossing the Nile to Giza city, the expansion plans are ongoing and among these linking the Cairo airport to the 6th October city and 2010 stadiums in Cairo and Giza.

The Egypt 2010 bid file committee thanks the FIFA inspection team headed by Mr. Jan Peeters for their scrupulous report, hoping that these unintentional omissions will not affect the overall evaluation of the Egyptian bid on decision day by the FIFA Executive committee members on 15th May.
