Pennsylvania woman becomes Ms. Petite America
Pennsylvania woman becomes Ms. Petite America and will compete this summer for the Universal title.
(PRWEB) May 10, 2004 --Michele Paiva, of Downingtown Pennsylvania has been crowned Ms. Petite America and will compete for the Universal title this summer. Paiva, a spokesperson, author and therapist, will be promoting "Empowerment through Outreach" as her platform this year as she travels throughout the state of Pennsylvania and Nation representing the pageant, "Ms. Petite Universal".
"I think it is great to see a pageant that empowers and promotes women who are not as stately as their taller counterparts in the pageant circle. So many times a "tall model look" is favored in pageantry, which in pun, overlooks the smaller stature young lady and woman," said Paiva.
Paiva though, is not short on accomplisments. In her 30's, she has already been a professional news anchor, journalist, author, therapist, television and stage choreographer, illustrator, spokesperson, telesales presenter, game show coach and more! All of the experience ties together to form a rich background that enables her to communicate with others, regardless of socioeconomic or cultural background.
In fact, Paiva is a Yoga and Myoskeletal Therapist, working just part time to allot for her writing demands. This work though, which incorporates much naturopathy, lends itself to her research in health and wellness genres.
This in turn has brought to her awareness a true need to have minorities represented in not only health care service, but health care research and education.
"Women, African-Americans and Latino's are under-represented when it comes to healthcare in our society. This just isn't something we as a nation should be allowing, since each of these minorities are actually the majority. However, as long as the stereotypical white middle aged male is running our governement, healthcare system, educational system and even our religions, we need to make some noise. Nice noise though. Respect others to gain respect. As Ms. Petite America, I will work very hard to raise awareness of empowerment, and part of this is wellness in healthcare."
