Nakia Joins Austin's Agence Talent, Set Sights On New Mike Judge Film Audition
Singer and songwriter, Nakia, has signed with Agence Talent, a professional boutique talent management company in Austin. Erin Franklin, Agence's president, will now be acting as Nakia's agent in respect to his acting career. Nakia is excited to be a member of the Agence roster and also about his first step into the world of film. Nakia will be submitting to audition for Mike Judge's new film, starring Luke Wilson, currently filming in Austin.
(PRWEB) May 11, 2004 -- Having been accepted into the very prestigious, American Musical Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City in 1994, Nakia turned down that offer to attend school in Atlanta, GA and work under rock super-producer, Brenden O'Brien.
Nakia continued to pursue his musical interests as an intern for Chicago's, Aware Records (John Mayer, Five For Fighting, Train), while performing at piano bars at the end of the day. After his time was up at the label, Nakia moved to the musical mecca of Austin, where he quickly began planting roots and budding into a must-see live act.
During a recent submission to perform at an Agence party being planned by founder, Erin Franklin, Nakia approached Erin about possibly representing him as an actor. It seemed to fit in Nakia's mind, as he is currently working to secure a place on the soundtrack for the new Nicholas Cage movie, "The Weather Man."
"Erin immediately asked if I had submitted to the new Mike Judge movie being made here in town," says Nakia. "I told her no, but I would love to. After about an hour of talking, I think it was clear to us both that I needed to be working for Agence. We signed the paperwork and she drove me to my first photo shoot, with Steven Noreyko."
Nakia, who has recently appeared on Austin's NBC affiliate, KXAN and in Siren Song Magazine, will be performing on Tuesday in Austin, TX at the Carousel Lounge located at 1110 East 52nd Street. Showtime is at 7:00PM and there is no cover charge to attend. Nakia's songs have been called "pop-rockin' soul" and his voice, "emotionally charged" and "intense."
