The conference is featuring the young mountaineer Aron Ralston who was trapped by an 800-pound boulder in UtahÂs CanyonlandsÂliterally pinned between a rock and hard placeÂfor 7 days in a remote slot-canyon. He will share his harrowing story and legendary self-rescue on Sunday, August 1, following the opening reception at the Snowmass Conference Center.
Special guest speakers for the evening of Wednesday, August 4, are the award-winning filmmaking team of Howard and Michele Hall, best known for their underwater IMAX films including Into the Deep and Island of the Sharks. Between them they have won 7 Emmy Awards. In addition to filmmaking, the Halls have published their photographs in hundreds of books and magazines. Their program will be an evening of images and true-life adventures.
