Good Samaritan Hospital Looks Forward to Its 11th Annual Sneakers Walk/Run
Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern N.Y. will be hosting its 11th annual Sneakers 5K Walk/10K Run, one of the most recognized and well attended events in the community. The race will be held on Sunday, June 6th and will take place throughout Suffern and Montebello townships. Proceeds from the race will be used to help purchase new, state-of-the-art, Advanced Cardiac Defibrillators for Good Samaritan Hospital, further demonstrating both the hospital and communitys dedication to the cardiac heath of Greater Rockland County.
(PRWEB) May 14, 2004 -- Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern N.Y. will be hosting its 11th annual Sneakers 5K Walk/10K Run, one of the most recognized and well attended events in the community. The race will be held on Sunday, June 6th and will take place throughout Suffern and Montebello townships. Proceeds from the race will be used to help purchase new, state-of-the-art, Advanced Cardiac Defibrillators for Good Samaritan Hospital, further demonstrating both the hospital and communitys dedication to the cardiac heath of Greater Rockland County.
Registration for the race begins at 7:00am. The Childrens Fun Run, which is sponsored by New City Pediatrics, begins at 8:00am, and the Sneakers walk/run will begin at 8:30am. The cost is $16 per person before the day of the race and $20 the day of registration. Sponsorships are offered to suit any budget requirement with a range of $4,000 as an Event Sponsor, to $200 as a Sneakers Sponsor. There is also the option of sponsoring a runner, walker, or team.
We feel that this years race will be the best ever," said Amanda Moskowitz of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation. Cardiac health is an important issue and upgrading the hospitals Advanced Cardiac Defibrillator units will help provide better health care to our community."
As a special highlight this year, Outback Steakhouse located on Route 59 in Suffern, is hosting a complimentary lunch buffet at the end of the race for participants and volunteers. Good Samaritan Hospital will also be offering the Hal Fogel Memorial Scholarship, worth $500, to two participants. These participants are required to be between the ages of 13-19, and submit in advance with their pre-registration by June 2, 2004, a 100-word essay written on the topic of What Fitness Means to Me."
More than just a race, the Sneakers Walk/Run" is an opportunity for the community to learn more about good cardiac health. Information on defibrillators, cardiac health and other educational materials will be provided free of charge to the community on race day.
