The Southwest Business Association of Hickory NC presents The Greater Hickory Smoke Barbeque Festival, Friday, May 28, 12 til 10 pm and Saturday, May 29, 10 til 10 pm at the Catawba Furniture Mall. Admission is FREE TO THE PUBLIC!

(PRWEB) May 15, 2004 --The Southwest Business Association of Hickory NC presents The Greater Hickory Smoke Barbeque Festival, Friday, May 28, 12 til 10 pm and Saturday, May 29, 10 til 10 pm at the Catawba Furniture Mall. Admission is Free To The Public! Premier sponsorship for the festival is provided by Galaxy Food Centers and Butcher's Best Meats. The festival feature will be a World Class Barbeque cook-off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Association and by North Carolina's Governor Mike Easley, and will determine North Carolina's Barbeque Champions! Winners of the competition will be qualified to compete in the Jack Daniel's World Championships.

In addition to over fifty area businesses providing various sponsorships, significant sponsorship is also being provided by Mike Johnson Toyota of Hickory, Hickory Daily Record, and Catawba Furniture Mall.

Everyone is encouraged to enjoy two days of live music from two stages featuring Andi Balloun, Heidi Sidelinker, Bob Sinclair, Sam Anderson, Flint Hill, Abe Reid & The Spike Drivers, Uncle Sam, Scott Jeffrey's Band, Nathan Hefner, Marsupial, The Stragglers and Cigar Store Indians. Families bring your youngster's for fun in the Kiddie Area with face painting, Conrad the Crawdad, fun gyms, and games! Art lovers will be treated to The Greater Hickory Art Exhibition and sale featuring over forty local artists from a variety of mediums.

Miss Dana Reason, the reigning Miss North Carolina will be present at the Greater Hickory Smoke BBQ Festival on Saturday May 29 along with Details, Inc. that will provide attendees the opportunity to have an Instant Make-over! NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Dennis Setzer (#46 Chevrolet Silverado race team) will be present on Saturday, May 29 to offer autographs and photograph opportunities.

The Hickory Smoke Barbeque Poker Run will be sponsored by Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson/Buell and held on May 29, 2004. Pre-registration will be available for $20.00 per rider from May 1, 2004 through May 28, 2004. The entry fee for the Poker Run will be $25.00 per rider and $10.00 per passenger the day of the event. Registration will start at 8:30am and the last bike will leave by 10:00am. All registered riders will receive a commemorative Poker Run T-Shirt and a Special Event wristband the day of the event.

Above all else, an obvious reason to attend would have to be the opportunity to taste the World's best Barbeque cooking for yourself! There will be plenty to go around, as well as fun foods like funnel cakes, cotton candy, popcorn, candy apples and more!
