Tradition and technology mix for summer camp marketing.
Kennolyn Camps lists a session of summer camp on eBay. Traditions are important for this California camp but so are marketing technologies that help them rach new and existing campers.
Soquel, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2004 --Along with cars, real estate, collectibles, and used wedding dresses, eBay devotees can now bid on a week long session at one of Americas favorite summer camps. The traditions and customs of Summer Camp are alive and well at Kennolyn Camps but they didnt want to miss out on the worlds largest online marketplace. eBay makes great sense for us" says Camps Director, Andrew Townsend. Kennolyn Camps draw heavily from Silicon Valley and we have a very tech savvy clientele. We think they are going to love to see Kennolyn presented in this way." Bidders may also get a bargain. We have no idea what the session will fetch but we will honor the price of course" said Townsend. The listing expires on Tuesday, May 18th.
eBay isnt the only way Kennolyn and other camps are utilizing marketing technology. Kennolyn has bid for keywords on Overture (the paid ad provider for Yahoo, MSN, etc.) and sends out regular e-newsletters. Even though 75% of our business comes from word of mouth referrals" notes Townsend, We have to use all the marketing methods that are available." Gary Downing, a parent of two die-hard Kennolyn campers agrees: "I love finding Kennolyn on E-Bay and Yahoo" he says. "I already know Kennolyn has great traditions and history but as a parent and a Silicon Valley veteran it is good to see that they are keeping up with the times. It gives me confidence to see that they follow trends and embrace modern technology."
Campers shouldn't worry that technology will take over the Kennolyn Camp experience. "We will never sit around a computer and sing the camp songs" says Townsend. "Kennolyn will always be a human experience even if we use technology to spread the word about our camp."
