Portugal Day On June 10th and Brooklyn Day celebrated by Brooklyn Portuguese American photographer.
(PRWEB) May 16, 2004 -- Carolina Fernandes is celebrating Brooklyn Day and Portugal day by putting on a photo exhibition on Thursday, June 10th, 2004 (Portugal Day). Her exhibit, Dia de Portugal" will be held on Portugal Day, Thursday, June 10th from 5-8p.m, at St. Francis College on Remsen Street in Brooklyn Heights.
This timely photo exhibit is being held in June because Carolina is proud of being born and raised in Brooklyn (for Brooklyn Day) and being Portuguese (for Portugal Day). Her photo exhibition will focus on photos of Portuguese Feasts held in the Northeast and Madeira, Portugal.
This photo exhibit is my opportunity to share with others the Portuguese-American experience," Carolina Fernandes. I hope this exhibit creates interest and curiosity in Portuguese culture and traditions."
Dia de Portugal, de Camues e das Comunidades Portuguesas is the formal name for a worldwide event celebrated on June 10 in Portuguese speaking countries as well as other countries with significant populations of people of Portuguese heritage. Dia de Portugal, or Day of Portugal, a national holiday in Portugal, commemorates the life of Luis de Camues, Portugal's greatest poet and recognizes the valuable contributions of the many Portuguese communities worldwide. The organized events provide an opportunity to celebrate the Portuguese heritage. For the greater community, it's a chance to learn more about the contributions that Portuguese speaking communities and Portuguese-speaking immigrants have made towards the advancement of humanity.
