Exotic Maiden also a Talented Abstract Artist

Exotic model uses international travel to study fine art painting and become premier abstract landscape artist.

Vail, CO (PRWEB) May 17, 2004 --- This 6’ tall, former international model paints brilliant abstract landscapes, perhaps even more beautiful than her striking Native American features.

The contemporary artist Katiel is a direct descendant of Tuskarora Indians from the island of Okracoke, NC, and a line of native women reputed for their striking features and violet eyes. As the story goes, the eyes were a trait inherited by the mingling of the island’s pirates, namely Blackbeard’s crew, and the native women.

Whether fact or fiction, one thing is for certain. Katiel is an exceptional abstract artist. She attributes much of her talent to a modeling career that allowed her to travel the world, studying art in cultural centers like Paris, Florence, Manhattan and Tokyo. Eventually, she settled down in Vail Colorado and began perfecting her style.

In her “Colorado Colors” collection, Katiel debuts a style unique perhaps even within circles of abstract painters. Powerful upward brush strokes create boreal bands of dancing color, which somehow intertwine to create brilliant fall landscapes. The effect is mesmerizing, much like the northern lights which inspired her style.

Using techniques that can only be mastered through years of discipline, she creates illusions on canvas. They move from solid to liquid depending on perspective. From a distance, one clearly sees the yellows and golds of autumn aspens. But stand close, and the painting becomes completely abstract and indecipherable.

She recently unveiled her “Colorado Colors” collection at Artexpo NY. You can view the collection and her photo on-line at: http://www.platrisfineart.com/abstractartlandscapes.html .

At the age of 16, Katiel was accepted into and attended NC State School of Design, where she studied painting and architecture. One semester shy of her degree, she moved to Manhattan to study at the NY City Art Student’s League, then lived in Europe and Asia. Between that and her move to Colorado, she earned a degree in computer science from the University of Texas, Dallas.
